Our Moral Commitment

What Guides Our Decisions

Running a business means more than creating beautiful things. It means thinking carefully about how our choices affect the wider world, the environment, the people we work with, and the customers who place their trust in us.

We believe creativity and responsibility should go hand in hand. From the materials we select to the partners we work alongside, our decisions are shaped by respect for craftsmanship, transparency, and long-term impact.

We don’t claim to have all the answers, and we know there is always more to learn. What we can commit to is making considered choices, improving where we can, and building a business that feels responsible as well as creative.

Below are some of the steps we’re already taking.

Materials, Leather & Responsible Sourcing

We work with specialist UK production partners who manufacture each Zanoogo piece to order.

While we do not audit every stage of the upstream supply chain, we choose to work with partners who manufacture in the UK and source materials within Europe, where regulatory oversight supports responsible environmental and labour practices.

Where leather is used, it is sourced through established European suppliers in line with those regional standards.

Leather is a natural material with inherent environmental impact. For that reason, we focus on longevity over disposability. Our leather products are designed to be durable and used for years rather than seasons, as we believe keeping products in use for longer is one of the most meaningful ways to reduce waste.

All Zanoogo products are made to order. We hold no stock and manufacture nothing in advance of demand. Each piece is created only once it has been chosen.

We continue to review and refine the information we share, and will update this page as further relevant information becomes available.

Made in the UK

Keeping production close to home is both a practical and ethical choice for us.

By manufacturing in the UK, we reduce long-distance shipping, minimise unnecessary transport emissions, and maintain greater oversight of how products are made. It also means working with skilled craftspeople and specialist producers who are paid fairly for their work and held to clear standards.

Local production allows us to move faster when improving processes, respond more thoughtfully to feedback, and build long-term relationships rather than chasing the lowest cost.Supporting UK manufacturing isn’t about waving a flag.

It’s about accountability, transparency, and knowing that the people behind our products are treated with respect.

Made to Order

We don’t believe in making things just in case someone might want them.

Every Zanoogo product is made to order, which means nothing is produced until it has a home to go to. This avoids surplus stock, reduces waste, and removes the need for clearance cycles or disposal of unsold goods.

Made-to-order also allows us to focus on quality over quantity. Each piece is produced with care, checked by hand, and finished specifically for the person who chose it. It’s a slower, more deliberate way of working, but one that respects materials, craftsmanship, and the value of what’s being made.

It may not be the fastest or cheapest route, but it feels like the right one.

Sustainable Packaging

Beautiful products deserve to be packaged responsibly. Wherever possible, we reuse or recycle materials rather than source new ones.

Our boxes are often pre-loved or made from recycled or repurposed cardboard. Products are packed safely with recycled shredded cardboard or plant-based, biodegradable packing pieces that dissolve harmlessly in water.

Labels are paper, tape is Kraft paper, and our printed materials use recycled stock. Where humanly possible, we avoid single-use plastics entirely, or use them only where no suitable alternative exists.

It’s not about perfection, but progress, making small, practical choices that help reduce waste and keep our environmental impact as light as possible.
