Caring for your Products

General Care Advice

To help keep your Zanoogo products looking their best for longer, a few simple, easy habits will make a real difference across textiles, soft furnishings and bags:

Keep them away from prolonged moisture and direct heat, which can cause fading or warping over time.

Avoid harsh cleaning chemicals or bleach, as these can damage fibres, colours and finishes.

Spot clean gently where possible rather than soaking the whole piece.

Let products air dry naturally if they become damp.

Avoid rough surfaces that could mark, snag or scuff the material.

Store pieces in a clean, dry place out of direct sunlight when not in regular use.

Leather Care Advice

  • Wipe clean with care: Use a soft, slightly damp cotton cloth to remove light marks and dust. Avoid soaps, wipes, or harsh cleaners that could dull or soften the printed surface over time.
  • Handle thoughtfully: Lotions, hand sanitiser, makeup and even sweat can leave marks, so allow hands to dry fully before handling. Avoid rough or abrasive surfaces that may scratch the print.
  • Protect from the elements: Keep away from prolonged heat, sunlight, and heavy rain. If your bag gets wet, shape it gently and let it dry naturally, away from direct heat.
  • Condition with caution: Do not use leather creams, waxes, or polishes on the printed panels. These can affect the protective finish. On the unprinted smooth-leather trims, you may treat those sparingly with a neutral, silicone-free, wax-free conditioner after a successful 24-hour spot test.
  • Waterproofing: Leather is naturally water-resistant but not fully waterproof. Avoid waterproof sprays on printed panels. If you wish to treat unprinted trims, use a light fluoropolymer spray and test first.
  • Storage: For best long-term results, ideally, when not in use, empty your makeup bag, fasten the zip or clasps, and loosely stuff with tissue or an old towel to help it hold its shape. Store in a breathable dust bag or box, away from direct sunlight.
  • Natural ageing: Fine wrinkles, gentle softening, and a more relaxed feel will develop as the leather settles and adapts to use. This isn’t wear, it’s the hallmark of genuine Nappa leather maturing beautifully over time, becoming more supple and comfortable to handle while retaining its strength and character.

Pure Silk Care Advice

Pure silk is a natural fibre that deserves a little extra care, but when treated gently, it will stay beautiful for years.

  • Unpacking & First Use: Your silk piece may arrive with light creases from packing. To relax the fabric naturally, hang it in the bathroom while you take a warm shower—the gentle humidity helps wrinkles drop out. If creases remain, use a cool iron on the reverse side through a clean cotton cloth (a tea towel works well). Use the lowest heat or “silk” setting, never apply steam directly, and avoid pressing hard or sliding the iron.
  • Cleaning: For best results, dry clean only. If you prefer to wash by hand, use cold water and a small amount of silk-specific detergent. Gently swirl, do not soak, wring, or twist. Rinse thoroughly, then press excess water between clean towels.
  • Drying: Lay flat or hang to air dry in the shade, away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Do not tumble dry.
  • Storage: Store flat or gently rolled to avoid sharp creases. If hanging, use a wide, padded hanger. Keep in a breathable cotton bag or drawer, away from prolonged sunlight or moisture.
  • Protection: Ideally, try to avoid direct contact with perfume, body lotion, sunscreen, or hairspray, as these can mark or fade silk. Over time, the fibres may soften slightly and develop a more fluid drape. This is part of silk’s natural charm.

Plush Velvet Care Advice

Velvet looks indulgent because it is, but that doesn’t mean it needs precious handling. With a little care, your throw will stay beautifully soft and rich for years.

Washing

  • Machine wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle using a mild liquid detergent.
  • Avoid bleach, optical brighteners, and harsh stain removers, which can flatten pile or affect dye-sublimation colour.
  • A small amount of fabric conditioner is fine if you prefer extra softness, though the pile is naturally smooth.
  • Avoid vinegar or bicarbonate of soda on printed velvet, as pH shifts can dull the print.

Size note

  • The largest size (145×198 cm) is physically bulky once wet. If it feels cramped in your washing machine drum, consider choosing a professional wet-clean or laundry service rather than forcing the load, as over-packing stresses both fabric and machine.

Drying

  • Air dry only. High heat in tumble dryers can crush velvet pile and tighten the backing.
  • Drape over a rail or line so air can circulate. Gravity helps the surface relax flat.

Refreshing the pile

  • After washing or storage, revive the nap with a handheld steamer or by gently smoothing the pile with your palm.
  • Do not iron. With velvet on both sides there is no safe “reverse,” and direct heat/pressure can permanently crush the fibres.

Handling & storage

  • Keep clear of rough surfaces and sharp fasteners that could snag the pile.
  • Store loosely folded or rolled in a cool, dry place away from prolonged sunlight to preserve colour depth.

Velvet over time:

  • Velvet naturally relaxes and softens with use, developing a welcoming, lived-in richness without losing its character.

Wall Art Care Advice

Fine art pieces require only simple, careful maintenance to stay beautiful for years.

Always handle your wall art with clean, dry hands and avoid using any cleaning sprays or household chemicals.

General Care

  • Hang your artwork securely using appropriate wall fixings for the weight and wall type.
  • Keep artwork away from areas with high humidity or drastic temperature changes, such as bathrooms or near radiators.
  • Dust surfaces gently with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth or microfibre duster.
  • Avoid abrasive cloths, glass cleaners, or solvent-based products on any part of the artwork.
  • When moving, support the frame from both sides to prevent twisting or pressure on the corners.

1. Canvas Prints (Unframed)

  • Clean gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove light dust.
  • If necessary, use a barely damp (not wet) lint-free cloth and wipe lightly in one direction. Do not scrub.
  • Avoid contact with cleaning sprays, moisture, or oils, as this can mark the canvas or weaken the tension.
  • Avoid pushing or pressing on the canvas surface while cleaning.
  • Canvas is best displayed in normal indoor conditions. Extended exposure to very bright sunlight may gradually reduce vibrancy over time, as with any printed artwork.

2. Framed Paper Prints with Motheye Glass

  • The Motheye glaze has anti-reflective and smudge-resistant properties, making it very easy to maintain.
  • Dust the surface gently with a soft microfibre cloth. Do not use paper towels or rough cloths that could cause fine scratches.
  • If required, lightly wipe with a barely damp cloth using plain water - no detergents or glass sprays are needed.
  • The anti-reflective coating repels oil and water, so fingerprints and marks should lift easily without pressure.
  • Clean the wooden frame with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth, and immediately buff dry.

3. Floating-Framed Canvas

  • Treat the floating frame and stretched canvas as a single piece - do not attempt to separate them.
  • Dust both frame and canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
  • For the frame itself, use a clean, slightly damp cloth if necessary, then dry immediately.
  • Avoid pushing or pressing on the canvas surface while cleaning.
  • Keep away from moisture, steam, or oily residues that could affect the timber finish.

Longevity

All Zanoogo wall art is printed using professional giclée processes with durable, water-based or latex inks. When displayed and cared for indoors under typical household conditions, colours remain true and vibrant for many years without visible fading.
