What You Need to Know About the Slipper Chair
The Slipper Chair is where art meets comfort. Originally designed in the 18th century to help women slip into their shoes with ease, its low, armless form has since evolved into a timeless accent piece. Upholstered in smooth, fire-rated soft furnishing velour and set on a solid beech wood frame, this handcrafted chair brings heritage and artistry together in one graceful silhouette. With plump cushioning and tapered legs, it combines contemporary styling with a nod to retro design, making it an enduring piece for both home and business settings.
The Design
With the Zanoogo customiser, you choose the artwork that defines your style from our curated selected, and it will be printed avcross all the panels to create a chair that feels uniquely yours. Whether placed as a statement piece in a living room or used in pairs to complete a boutique bedroom, it’s designed to be noticed.
The Craftsmanship
Each chair is handmade in London by skilled upholsterers, The soft furnishing velour fabric is dye-sublimation printed, fusing colour deep into the fibres. Fabric panels are cut to size, hand-stitched, and upholstered onto an FSC-certified beech wood frame. Firm foam with wadding and webbing ensures long-lasting comfort, while the shorter rear legs create the classic slipper chair profile. The result: a chair that’s as comfortable as it is characterful and is built to last.
FSC-certified means the wood comes from responsibly managed forests that are replanted, protect wildlife, and support the people and communities who harvest them.
Styling Tips
In the home, place it in a reading nook, across a fireplace, or in a hallway to create an instant focal point. For businesses, use them in reception areas, boutique hotel rooms, or showrooms. Designers also love the versatility: the chair feels contemporary but retains a retro silhouette, ensuring it never falls out of fashion.
