Care Information

Velvet looks indulgent because it is, but that doesn’t mean it needs precious handling. With a little care, your throw will stay beautifully soft and rich for years.

Washing

Machine wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle using a mild liquid detergent.
Avoid bleach, optical brighteners, and harsh stain removers, which can flatten pile or affect dye-sublimation colour.
A small amount of fabric conditioner is fine if you prefer extra softness, though the pile is naturally smooth.
Avoid vinegar or bicarbonate of soda on printed velvet, as pH shifts can dull the print.

Size note

The largest size (145×198 cm) is physically bulky once wet. If it feels cramped in your washing machine drum, consider choosing a professional wet-clean or laundry service rather than forcing the load, as over-packing stresses both fabric and machine.

Drying

Air dry only. High heat in tumble dryers can crush velvet pile and tighten the backing.
Drape over a rail or line so air can circulate. Gravity helps the surface relax flat.

Refreshing the pile

After washing or storage, revive the nap with a handheld steamer or by gently smoothing the pile with your palm.
Do not iron. With velvet on both sides there is no safe “reverse,” and direct heat/pressure can permanently crush the fibres.

Handling & storage

Keep clear of rough surfaces and sharp fasteners that could snag the pile.
Store loosely folded or rolled in a cool, dry place away from prolonged sunlight to preserve colour depth.
